Agenda: Take a minute Blog / corrections Week 3: Quiz Binder check HW: Read School Trip 100 - 184 by Tuesday.      It is I, Mikey, apprentice of Sensei Bao. Today was a minimum day, so class was only 30 minutes. Although the day's time was cut in half, we still did lots of activities. We started off with the take a minute video of the week that showed us how to gently let go of thoughts. Next, Henry read his blog and we all helped with minor corrections. We then went straight into the Week Three Quiz, which was about the grammar, quote, question, song, and lines we went over all week. Most people finished early, so we did silent reading until everyone was done with the quiz. The class was then over, and we all got our donuts before heading out to nutrition. Overall point counter  (including used points): 15

Agenda take a minute blog/corrections week 3: Lines School Trip HW Read p. 100-185 of School Trip by Tuesday.          Hi, it's me Henry. When we got into class, everyone wrote down the agenda for today. Then, we paid for the doughnuts we wanted from Krispy Kreme. I ordered the Gryffindor doughnut and the pumpkin spice doughnut. Next, we took a minute. Then, we reviewed the lines for the week. The lines were "I was made for the library, not the classroom. The classroom was a jail of other people's interests; the library was open, unending, free." Between the World & Me , by Ta-Nehisi Coates. The lines expressed how classrooms felt like jail, and how libraries felt free. Next, we started with New Kid notes, and summarized the first five chapters. We wrote down how Jordan started school, and the friends her started to make. Then, we talked about screen times, and left class when the bell rang.

Agenda  take a minute  blog/corrections  Week 3: Question, Song  readers/writers workshop  School Trip HW: Read pages 100-185 of School Trip .  Hi, it's me Sam, twin of Sensei Bao. We all came to class and quietly sat down. Then, Ms. Nakada mentioned that we are the first class to reach ten points. We all cheered and clapped. Then, Ms. Nakada asked what prize we wanted, and after voting, we decided on doughnuts. Next, we proceeded to our week three Question and Song. We then answered the question of the week which was "What do you think about school?" We then heard some interesting and good answers to the question. After that, we listened to the Song "Whats Goin' On? " by Marvin Gaye. I really liked the song because it expressed the problems and the bad things that were happening at that time. Then, we proceeded to talk about New Kid, and before we knew it, the bell rang, and we had to go.

Agenda: take minute blog/corrections week 1: song, lines short autobiographies writer's workshop Hey, it's Jonny. Today we peacefully sat down into our seats, and took a minute to recuperate. Once we got ready for class, we answered an interesting question in our English Notebooks. The question was what we hoped for, and then some students shared their answers for the question. After answering and sharing, we listened to the song "We Are Going to Be Friends" by The White Stripes. In my opinion, I thought the song was very calming and relaxing. We talked about what the song is about, and what the tone was. We chatted respectfully about the lyrics. Our class kindly talked about how every line rhymed and what our favorite line was. Next, we did Writer's Workshop, where we talked about different formats on how to write, such as pre-writing, outlining, parts of the story, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. After, we started writing paragraphs about our writi...

We enter class as we get ready for the fourth day of school. We all sat down, ready for our daily take a minute exercise. As we finish up, we go over Alex's blog, making sure we correct his sentences.  We revisited our notes on Reader's Workshop and talked about what we will read over the course of the year (a million words or about 12-20 books).  After we're done with that, we go over the week 1 Grammar Quote Question. Something we've learned from this is: "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment" by Ralph Waldo Emerson. We interpreted the quote. That is my blog for today. Sincerely, Liam

AGENDA new seats welcome take a minute course outline first day letter HW: Return signed course outline. Gather materials. Somehow, after all of these weeks, it was the first day of school, again! After nutrition, my third period students came into class and we settled into our seats. I welcomed this bright group of eighth graders; everyone wrote down the agenda. Then, we took a minute. I passed out course outlines, and we read through it together. We discussed materials for the class, rules, grades, and keys for success. Then, we went over the syllabus and all we will be reading, writing, and learning this semester.  Then, we watched a quick video about lettering, and everyone started a name card.  We discussed the blog, and, after much debate, we decided on Sensei Bao. Interesting...  Did we start reading the letter? I can't remember. And that was it! First day of third period check, done!
