AGENDA: Take a Minute Blog/Corrections Week 8: Question & Song School Trip  ACE HW: Read The Outsiders  P. 1-84 by Monday. BLOG: Good morning! As students entered the classroom, everyone took their seats. Once the bell rang, we all took out our binder reminders, writing down the agenda while listening to our daily take a minute. Then, we read Madison's blog, and corrected her errors. Next, Madison chose me to be the next blogger, and I walked up to the blogging desk as Miss Nakada told us our question of the week. This week's question was, "How can daily life spark creativity?" My answer was, "Daily life can spark creativity from Inspiration throughout the day, and observing the little things that happen as you go through your day." Some students then shared their answers, talking about inspiration, nature, and even sometimes the people around us. Next, Miss Nakada showed us her old Creatober drawings, with unique different themes. Then, we went over ou...

AGENDA  take a minute blog/corrections week 8: grammar - quote School Trip  ACE HW read The Outsiders  p. 1-84 by Monday Blog:  Good morning! As the class filed in the room everyone took out our binder reminders, and copied the agenda. It was time for Goldie to come up and read us her blog. I really enjoyed her blog and thought it was well written. After reading her blog, she chose me to be the next person. I sat in my seat, and, as a class, we corrected Goldie's blog. After that, the class took out their English note books and started writing. Today for grammar, we went over verb-tenses. We created a table where we put the tense, gave the definition, and then an example. We started talking about the marathon, and Ms. Nakada answered some questions students had about it. We soon moved on to our quote of the week. The quote says, "You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have." This quote is by Maya Angelou. We started talking a bit about her ...

AGENDA: -Take a minute -Blog/corrections -Week 7: Quiz - School Trip  A.C.E HOMEWORK: -Finish books by Monday 9/29. BLOG: Hello, it's me, Goldie. Our class filed in before the bell rang and took our seats. My dear friend Maya read her blog that she has been begging to write since the beginning of the year. I think she did quite well. It may be obvious but she has chosen me to write today's blog. As we read and corrected Maya's blog, Ms. Nakada strolled around the classroom to check that everyone has been doing their binder reminder entry's. I took my place at the blogging desk. It feels weird to be in front of the whole class while they are looking at the back of my head. Ms. Nakada went over some guidelines for test-taking so that no cheating is involved. I opened up my Chromebook to log onto the quiz. I feel that I did pretty well. I am not able to talk to my friends, or observe people's body language, so I felt a little bit bored. I decided I should move on to ...

Agenda - Take a Minute Blog/Corrections Week 7: Lines School Trip  A.C.E. HW - Finish books by Monday, 9/29 Hello. This is my first blog, and I intend to write it well. Today, we walked into the classroom and took our seats, chatting as we sat down. We took out our binders to write down the agenda, and slowly started to quiet down. Hudson then went up to read his blog, then graciously chose me to be the next blogger. I walked up and took my spot by the computer, and Ms. Nakada handed out this week's poem. I hadn't realized how odd it is to write the blog, no one to talk to, and I had to borrow scissors and glue from a neighboring table. The poem is about evolution and it shows how insignificant we are in the bigger picture. After that, we finished up our  School Trip summaries and touched on parent expectations, harsh questions and tone, and racial issues and identity. We did our final A.C.E. for School Trip,  and the bell finally rang.

AGENDA Take a Minute Blog/Corrections Week 7: Song BOOK PROJECT GALLERY WALK HW: Finish Books by Monday 9/29. Hello, it is me, Hudson. Today we actually walked in quietly to English class, which was amazing. We then corrected Luke's blog, which had very few errors. Then, we tried something new for our song of the week, which was "La Bamba". We listened to a podcast about the song being used in a counter protest against white supremacists, one of which was "White Santa". The podcast talked about the origins of the song, as well as some other interesting facts about it. Then, Ms. Nakada passed out our book project's grading sheet for our gallery walk. After that, we went around looking at people's projects, and in some cases, eating them. Then, the bell rang and English class ended.

We started our day by coming into class and watching the take a minute video. Then, we read and corrected Vance's blog. After we did that, we started writing our Week 7 grammar quote and question. We wrote down this week's quote, which is by Frida Kahlo, and then looked at some of her paintings. The quote was about how her paintings are a reflection of her experiences. Next, we wrote down this week's question, which was about if schools  offer enough opportunities for creative expressions. We had about 10 minutes left in class, and we spent the time to work on our book project. Then, the bell rang, and it was the end of another day in English.

Hi, it's me Vance. It was a Friday, so we had the chapter quiz. Before that though, we went over Hunter's blog and saw the masterpiece at the bottom of the blog, I think that Hunter should apply for an art show, Then he picked me to be the next blogger. Next, we were handed a post-it note, but did not have much time before we went on to the poem and added a lot of notes that we missed yesterday. We then took the quiz, and I thought that I had all the questions correct, until I found out that I had not filled out the last question correctly. Thankfully, that was a four-part question, so it only deducted one point. After the quiz, we were free to work on the ACE that was assigned yesterday. The bell rang, when I still was not done with the ACE, so I asked for a School Trip book for t...

Hunter's First Blog

Agenda: - take a minute - blog/corrections - week 6: song - SCHOOL TRIP - reader's/writer's workshop Hello, it is I, Hunter. Our day of English class was initiated by starting our take a minute session. We then listened to Jaden read his blog out loud, and he was then asked to select a new person to write the blog. I was selected, therefore you are hearing me speak today. After this, we looked at Jaden's blog to see if there were any errors. There were a couple, unfortunately. Next, we listened to the song "Soy Yo" by Bomba Estereo. We determined that the song was about being yourself without caring what others think, and we also determined that the tone of the song was confident, upbeat, and positive. In my opinion, the song sounded pretty good. After our discussion about our weekly song, we discussed Chapter 5 of SCHOOL TRIP  until the bell rang, and that was the end of our English class for the day. Here's a small smiley face in ASCII art format:         ...

School Trip  book projects Homework: Read another 100 pages of your book by Monday 9/22/2025.     Good morning, as you are well aware, I'm Jaden. The first thing we did when we all walked in to the class was take a seat and write down the agenda as this week's take a minute played on the screen. Afterwards, we proceeded to have Hriday read his blog. After Hriday finished reading his blog, he chose to have Hunter and I play the game rock, paper, scissors to choose who does the blog next. As I am the one who is doing the blog today, I lost. After I went up,  we corrected any spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. After correcting any mistakes in his blog, we started to do this week's question, which was "What are some ways to celebrate Latin Heritage Month?" After everyone answered the question, we started our notes on chapter 4 of  School Trip . When we finished our notes, everyone did silent ...

Today, when we walked into class, Ms. Nakada assigned us a table number, and we all chose our seats at the corresponding tables. As soon as we all got seated, we quickly wrote down our agenda for the day in our binder reminders, and proceeded to review Helena's blog. After we finished reviewing her blog, Helena asked Leila, and I to rock paper scissors to see who writes the blog. I lost, thus you are hearing me speak today. I moved up to the special blogging seat, and we then moved on to the next activity. Ms. Nakada asked us to take out our English notebooks, and we started our Week 6 Grammar, and Quote. We started a new sentence study, and spoke a bit about types of sentences. This week's quote was by Cristo Hernandez, he spoke about how he was orgulloso or proud about being Latino, being from Mexico,...

Agenda: Take a minute Blog/corrections School Trip  ACE Week 5: Quiz/reader's workshop HW: Read 100 pages of a book of your choice by Monday 9/15. Hello, it's me, Helena.  Today we walked into class and sat down, getting out our binder reminders for the binder check. We watched our daily take a minute while Ms. Nakada went around checking our binders. Then, Talia went up to read her blog, which started a discussion about how she would remind Ms. Dillmore to give us homework last year, and everyone hated it. Talia also decided that Luke, Hriday, and I would all have to rock-paper-scissors for who would be the next blogger (obviously, I lost). Then, we all started silently working on our ACEs for School Trip , and soon after, Ms. Nakada took the money people brought in for the pizza we earned. We worked silently until Ms. Nakada told us to get out our chromebooks to take the Week 5 Quiz. After we finished the quiz, we spent the rest of class doing silent reading, and Ms. Nakada ...

Sigi's First Blog

Agenda: - Take a Minute - Blog/Corrections - Week 5: Song - School Trip /Reader's Workshop Homework : Read 100 pages of a book of your choice by Monday 9/15 Hi, it's Sigi. Shortly after entering Ms. Nakada's classroom and doing our daily "take a minute," Layla read her blog, which was very well written. Ms. Nakada read one of her former students' letters to us, and she  had very good advice that should be taken into consideration. Our class reached ten points, yet again, and we decided on getting pizza for our reward. The song of the week is called "Non Je Ne Regrete Rien" by Edith Piaf, which is about living now, and not getting stuck on your past experiences, so you can enjoy life to the best of your ability. Some words we used to describe the tone of this song were motivational, urgent, and robust. Next, we jumped right back into School Trip , discussing subjects like becoming someone new, family traditions, unintentional racism, French vocabular...

Then, Hartley read her blog aloud and picked me as the next blogger (a great choice). No corrections were needed, so good job Hartley! After that, we wrote down our Week #5: Question, "How can we better balance hard work and taking care of yourself?" We then shared some of our answers to the question. Afterwards, we talked more about SCHOOL TRIP and took some notes on the book. During our discussion, Molly shared some funny and embarrassing stories about her dad... he has an interesting fashi...

AGENDA Take a minute Blog/corrections Week 4/5 Quiz - Grammar - Quote School Trip HW: Read 100 pages of a book of your choice Good morning! It's me, Hartley. Today, we sat down in our seats and copied down the agenda. Then, Tesa read her amazing blog, and chose me as the next blogger. I had to leave my desk partner Miriam, which made me sad. After that, we started our Week 5 grammar and quote, which was a quote from School Trip by Jerry Craft. Molly shared that when meeting people as an adult, you judge them by their job and not who they are as a person, which I thought was very insightful and smart. Next, Ms. Nakada introduced us to our Independent Reading Plan, and expressed her hatred for the last Hunger Games book. Then, the bell rang, and I started stressing that I hadn't written much, but it worked out in the end. I would also like to add that I appreciate William for letting me use his sunglasses even though I broke his last ones.

For now I will not be calling myself "disciple of Sensei Bao," because I wish to give him a rest. We started off our grammar lesson with a sentence study lesson, where we talked about subjects and predicates. After that, we talked about a quote by Fredrick Douglas that talked about how empowering the ability of reading is. We then briefly talked about the book New Kid   and the misnaming that occurs in it. We then moved on to a discussion about Class Act,  where we talked about the pov shifts between Drew and Jordan, colorism in the book, and the awkwardness of people touring your school. Last, we took a basic knowledge test on School Trip,  that was just checking that we read the book by quizzing us on simple topics of the book. Once the quiz ended, we had a few minutes of quiet, free time to end off our Engli...
