Agenda: - Take a Minute - Blog/Corrections - Createober Day 31 - Week 12: Quiz - NaNoWriMo Prep Homework: NaNoWriMo starts 11/1!!! Happy Halloween! Ms. Nakada was very thoughtful and passed out some candy at the door. Then, we wrote down our agenda as Layla read her incredible blog. We finished off our last Createobers when Talia, Molly, Hartley, Madison, Nell, Jaden, Lev, Ethan, Jonny, and Mikey shared. We did some NaNoWriMo Prep by writing letters to our friends that encouraged them to complete their novels, since it will be challenging. I wrote to Talia and suggested that we meet up on Fridays to finish any words that we didn't write in the week. We took our weekly quiz, and another day of class ended.

AGENDA: take a minute blog/corrections Creatober Day #30 Week #12: Lines T.O.  - Fall Essay Intros HW: Read a model novel: 20-30 minutes      Good morning! It's me, Layla. We started off our English class today by walking in, taking our seats, and jotting down the agenda. Next, we silently watched our daily take a minute video. Ms. Nakada then graciously handed out the cookies and brownies she baked for us since we reached 10 class points. After that, we did our Creatober and Ethan, Hartley, Molly, Sigi, Talia, Maya, and Lev shared theirs. I liked the grouptober of the day, but I think Molly's drawing could've been shaded just a little less. We then read and talked about our lines "The Poverty Myth" by Jaqueline Ching. We discussed that it's about the myth that low-income students can't achieve and made connections between the lines and The Outsiders  book. Next, we finally finished our notes on The Outsiders . We talked about how Ponyboy becomes an unre...

Agenda - Take a minute - Blog corrections - Book Project Gallery Walk - Creatober Day 28 - Week 12: Question Homework - Read a model novel- Prep for NaNoWriMo Hello, this is my second blog. Today, we walked into class, chatty as always, and settled into our seats and wrote the agenda down. Molly read her blog and, much to my dismay, chose me to be the next blogger. Before packing up my stuff and starting the blog, the class took out their book projects so we could do a gallery walk. Many people brought baked goods, and everyone was grateful. I offered my cake pop to whomever would take it, and Sebastian took it. He proceeded to eat it, and he looked ill afterwards. I sat down in the blog seat, and it took a very long time before the Chromebook was unlocked and the blog page was ready. We took a few minutes for our Createober, and Molly, Hartley, Ethan, and Leila came up to share their Grouptober. Talia shared and felt very distressed that she was not, and will not, be a part of Gr...

Agenda: Take a minute blog - corrections Creatober Day 27 Week 12: Grammar - Quote The Outsiders - Book Projects HW: BOOK PROJECTS DUE TOMORROW! Hello, it's me, Molly. Today, we started with Ruby reading her blog, and then, she chose me to be the next blogger. Next, we shared for Creatober, and it was very exciting. Grouptober was definitely the best part. If you think otherwise, argue with the wall. After we finished sharing, we looked at the steps to making a strong essay, and our Fall Essay Prompts. Then, we looked at the quote of the week, which was "This is your novel, and only know how to write it." - Roxane Gay. As a class, we interpreted this to mean our novels are our creative work, and we decide how we write it. Next, we took notes on NaNoWriMo. Then, the bell rang, and we were done.  P.S. Shout-out to Hartley. She is my Rae of sunshine. (If you don't get the pun... that's embarrassing.)

We all walked in to class on Friday amidst a lot of arguing whether or not the movie rendition of Sodapop was "Hot" or not. After, everyone wrote down the agenda in their binder reminders, and Hartley read her blog. She then so rudely chose me to be the next blogger after I explicitly told her I didn't want to. Then, we started our Createobers, and Ms. Nakada put on the rest of The Outsiders  movie. After we finished the movie, a few people shared their Createobers, and then we started the quiz. Then, the bell rang, and it was the end of our day.

I would also like to add that the group Creatober is for your table group, and if you feel left out by that, you should start your own group Creatober. Not beg to join Group B's. Next, we did our lines, which were a poem called "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost. We were given the chance to annotate the poem by ourselves, and then we discussed the poem as a class. Then, we continued working on our The Outsiders notes, and we talked about Chapter 7. We were given time to think about our next book project. Then, the bell rang and that ended another Engl...

Ethan, Hartley, and Liam all shared their amazing drawings. Then, we listened to the song "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman. I have heard this song so many times in my house so it was familiar. We talked about the song and concluded the daughter in the song wanted to escape their day to day life and finally found her happy place, but she wanted her partner to leave because they weren't being a good parent. Then, we worked on our The Outsiders  notes, and the bell rang.                                         ...

Agenda - take a minute - blog/corrections - Createober day #21 - week 11: question - The Outsiders Homework - read 100 pages of a book of your choice by next Monday - book project #2 due next Tuesday Blog Hello, it is I, Hunter. Today's English class was kicked off by watching our take a minute video. I don't remember what it was about, but I imagine it was very inspiring and helpful. After this, Hriday came up to the front of the class to read his second blog. Once he was finished, he had Vance, Jaden, and I play a game of rock-paper-scissors to decide who writes the next entry. I lost to both Vance and Jaden simultaneously, therefore you are hearing me speak today. We then spent five minutes drawing our Creatober entries. A few people shared their entries, such as the rocket that Ethan drew, and Ruby's drawing of a couple on a swing. Apparently, there's this thing occurring called Grouptober, and today's entry seemed to be eyes. After Creatober, we opened our En...

We came into class today and took out our binder reminders to write down the agenda. We had a vote for a new blog name, which the two options were the big rocks, or purple. We couldn't agree on a name, so we will have to do it again on Monday. Jonny then read his blog. He picked me to be the next writer, and then we corrected his blog which didn't have many errors. Next, we had some time to work on our createobers. Ethan, Talia, Molly, Hartley, Mikey, Sebastian, Tesa, Ruby, and Lev all shared. We then reviewed our week 10 notes to prepare for our quiz. We took some time to do our quiz, and before we knew it our short English class was over.

Jonny's Second Blog

Agenda: take a minute blog/corrections creatober day 16 SLC Letters HW: Student Led Conferencing Tonight! 5-7     Heyy it's your bestie, Jonny. In our wonderful English class, we settled into our seats, and took a minute to watch a peaceful video. Next, Ethan read his blog beautifully, even though his blog wasn't as beautiful as him reading it. Of course, he picked me to go. We then, started drawing our creatobers, and Ethan, Kellan, Talia, Leila, and Maya, shared their creative drawings. Me, personally, I thought Talia's was the most creative, since she kept adding on each day's word to one big art piece, although nothing can beat Ethan's baseball painting. After that, we worked on our Fall Student Led Conferencing Letters. I was a little stressed out, because I had to do this blog, and do the letter at the same time, but it worked out just fine. I hope this blog gets us a point, and have a great rest of your day! Bye! -Jonny Cucher

After the discussion about our blog, we answered the question "Is it offensive to use Native Americans as mascots?" We then listened to the song "Hawaii 78" by IZ ( Israel Kamakawiwo'ole), and the song was about loss of culture, tracing back to your roots, and loss of land.  Take a Minute Blog/Corrections Createober Day 8 Week 9: Lines The Outsiders/School Trip What's up, class. I'm back at first again, except this time I'm the first one to go twice. Today we filed in with average volume, some of us talking, some yelling, others making no noise at all. After everybody came in, we all filled out our binder reminders with the aforementioned schedule I showed above. Then, once everybody got that down, we started our take a minute video, which was a continuation of the one we did yesterday. It was a bit of light meditation and discussion of feelings and mental state. After that, we started day 8 of our Createober drawings. The Inktober prompt was "reckless." I, personally, am doing a version of Createober in which I draw an album cover every day, so today I drew the cover for the album Apollo XXI  by Steve Lacy. We started on our third Createober drawing, which was a weave. Ms. Nakada then realized that we did not correct Miriam's blog, so we corrected it. The timer rang, which meant that our time for drawing our Createober drawing was over. I was busy with the blog, so I did not draw mine. Next, Daniella shared her drawing which was very spooky.
