HW: Read a model novel: 20-30 minutes
Good morning! It's me, Layla. We started off our English class today by walking in, taking our seats, and jotting down the agenda. Next, we silently watched our daily take a minute video. Ms. Nakada then graciously handed out the cookies and brownies she baked for us since we reached 10 class points. After that, we did our Creatober and Ethan, Hartley, Molly, Sigi, Talia, Maya, and Lev shared theirs. I liked the grouptober of the day, but I think Molly's drawing could've been shaded just a little less. We then read and talked about our lines "The Poverty Myth" by Jaqueline Ching. We discussed that it's about the myth that low-income students can't achieve and made connections between the lines and The Outsiders book. Next, we finally finished our notes on The Outsiders. We talked about how Ponyboy becomes an unreliable narrator and how the book slowly came to a resolution. Lastly, we chose our fall Essay prompt and started our introduction. I chose the argumentative prompt for The Outsiders book. The bell rang, and that was another day is English class.
