Agenda - take a minute - blog & corrections - NaPoWriMo day 30 - Poem in Your Pocket Day - NaPoWriMo submissions Homework Read and write a poem a day.     Hello, It's me, Hudson, and today we walked into the classroom after a full day of state testing. As we quieted into a dull hum of background noise, we jotted down the agenda in our binder reminder. Then, Ms. Nakada played the take a minute, leading to complaints from unknown sources.     Now it's me, Hunter. After this, Tesa and Layla went up to read their blog, which earned us a point. Nice job. No one volunteered to write the next blog, so they told everyone who hasn't gone to raise their hand. One of those people was Hudson, who they picked. He asked me to write the blog with him, and I agreed. Thus, you are seeing us read this blog today.      After we went through the regular motions of a day, we moved into our lesson. First we read three poems, and talked about the meaning behind them. Aft...

AGENDA: take a minute blog/corrections testing strategies #1 NaPoWriMo: Day #27 NaPoWriMo Submissions HW: Read and write a poem a day! Welcome to our remarkable blog. You're about to listen to the silliest blog ever, and if you disagree, fight with a wall.  Today, we walked into the classroom and took our seats gracefully. As the take a minute video played, everyone wrote down the agenda in their binder reminders. Kingston was irritated with the sound in the take a minute video, but eventually he calmed down. Next, Molly and William went up to read their blog. It was beautifully written and earned us a class point. Thank you Molly and William. They then chose Tesa and me to do the blog. They chose well. We then took out our notebooks and wrote about testing strategies. We were given great tips to bring our intellect to our highest on the day of the test. Some tips that we talked about were arriving at school on time, getting enough sleep, and bringing a charged Chromebook to ...

Agenda: Take a minute Blog - Corrections Week 14: Quiz NaPoWriMo: Day 23 NaPoWriMo Submissions HW: Read and Write a poem a day William  Molly -  Class started, as it often does. We all took our seats, wrote down the agenda, and read the blog. I was then chosen to be the next blogger. While doing corrections, William offered to go up with me. Luckily, he wanted to do it...  I did. You're welcome. Next, we watched the 2007 NFL halftime show, featuring the creator of this week's song, Prince. 👑💜! (SHOUT OUT MAYA, stay fearless.) This led to our discussion about Prince's streaming issues, but since he died, we can finally enjoy the legend himself. After, we took out our chromebooks, and started the week 14 quiz. Then, we wrote poems. QUITE delightful.  Next, we wrote poems for NaPoWriMo Day 23, and Sigi and Maya shared theirs. VERY GOOD. We proceeded to read, "Good Bones," by Maggie Smith, which was very pessimistic. (Shout out Hudson)  Once we finished read...

After everyone calmed down, and we all got out our agendas and started writing down what we would be doing today. Then, we calmed down to do our take a minute which was very nice and soothing. Next was our blog\corrections, which was Johnny and Ethan's turn. They read their blog which was very nice especially because they made a joke about Sebastian. After our blog/corrections, we started our week 14: song and lines. Our song for the week was "Purple Rain" by Prince which told us about how he was in this sorta love triangle thing. Our lines were "I'm Going Back to Minnesota Where Sadness Makes Sense" by Danez Smith and it told us if you miss something to appreciate it. Poem writing was next on our agenda so we pulled out our English notebooks and poem packets and we ...

Agenda: Take a minute Blog corrections Week 14: Question NaPoWriMo: Day 21 HW: Read and Write a poem a day We leisurely walked into our welcoming, English class, where our thoughts become prized, and our poems become sacred. Everyone of these intellectual, yet extraordinarily smart students wrote down the agenda. After that, Sebastian and Henry read their blog. Their blog was very good, it was actually the first time I thought Sebastian was sounding smart, but it got us our point that we needed which is one step closer to getting the privilege to eat some yummy goodies. We then read the sophisticated poem, "Tired" by Langston Hughes, which was about being tired waiting for the world to change. Alex the extremely smart and intellectual pointed out Langston Hughes was tired of waiting. We then read "Love After Love" by Derek Walcott. Connor then joined our class after getting in trouble, and then we wrote our poems. Liam and Sigi shared, and another day of English was...

After the take a minute, Kingston read his almost perfect blog. Once he was done, he selected me to do the blog and I asked Henry to do it with me. We then did the grammar where we learned about hyperbole, idiom, and onomatopoeia. Then, we read the quote of the week which said "Water does not resist. Water flows.[...] Dripping water wears away a stone.[...] Remember you are half water. If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does." Margaret Atwood. After we read the quote, we read two poems "Home" by Warsan Shire and "Bullet Points" by Jericho Brown, which was about police brutality. Afterwards, we wrote two poems to catch up for NaPoWriMo. Agenda: Take a Minute Blog/Corrections NaPoWriMo Day 17 Week 13 Quiz Homework: Read and write one poem a day.     Today, as the class came through the door and took their seats, we settled into the classroom as the outside clamor transitioned into a dull roar. We then watched our take a minute video, which I'm not a fan of, because I think the sound is weird. After that, Vance and Jaden shared their blog, which came in the form of a poem. I was then chosen to write the next blog because on Thursday I lost a game of Durak. After we finished correcting the blog, we read our daily poem, which was called, "How to Triumph Like a Girl" and was written by Ada Limón. I thought the poem was pretty good. Ms. Nakada then explained today's NaPoWriMo prompts, and then we got to writing our daily poems. After writing, we took the Week 13 Quiz, and the bell then proceeded to ring, ending our day in English.

He then proceeded to choose me, which is why I'm presenting today. After we corrected the blog, we moved on to the song of the week: "Apple Tree," by Erykah Badu. The song was about how she won't change herself to get the approval of other people. Shortly after, we all started writing our poems for day 15 of NaPoWriMo. A few people shared their poems; Talia giving a part two about Lev's AirPod, and Lev's poem about how Maya and Goldie got so far away from our meeting point in New York, they had to take the subway. We worked on our displays for the open house tomorrow, and after that, the bell rang for the end of class.
