Week 12: song

NaPoWriMo: Catch up!

HW: Read and write a poem a day!

Hi, this is Nell and Madison doing our fourth blog. The day started when everyone piled in the classroom and took a seat. Everyone took out their binder-reminders and started writing down the agenda while the take minute started playing. Soon after, Kaadra went up to the front of the classroom and started reading her blog, it was really good. She picked Nell and me to do the blog, so we went up to the desk and started working. After Madison and I settled into our new seats, Ms. Nakada introduced us to the song of the week which was "Garden Song" by Phoebe Bridgers. We discussed the song and its meaning and then wrote our thoughts down. We wrote down the tone and our favorite lyric. After, we transitioned into reading poems. We listened to the poem "Dinosaurs in the Hood" by Danez Smith, being read by the author themselves and discussed it. The second poem we read was "miss rosie" by Lucille Clifton. Then, Ms. Nakada gave us some time to write poems. Some people shared theirs out loud. The bell rang and that was the end of another day in English.

Agenda: Take a minute Blog corrections week 11: Lines NaPoWriMo Today, we sat down in English and wrote down the agenda while the Take a minute played. Ruby went up and presented her blog, and then chose me to write the blog. After that, I went up to the desk and started writing. We reviewed the grammar from yesterday, covering three specific comma rules. We then discussed a quote by Emily Dickinson, and talked about the feelings that poetry can invoke. Next, we talked about the question of the week, "How do you feel about poetry?" Once we finished that, we read the lines a couple times, then analyzed the lines, a poem from Howard Nemerov. Next, we were asked to write a poem in the same format as the poem we read. I wrote a poem answering questions I got when ESA went to the UCLA water polo match. Then, class was over, so we packed up and left.

  Agenda: - take a minute - blog/corrections - week 3: question - readers workshop Homework: Finish books this week! Hello, it's me, Hriday! Today we all walked into class, talkative as usual, and settled down into our seats. We all copied the agenda down into our binder reminders (I was a little late to do so), and Ms. Nakada started our daily take-a-minute video. I did not take a minute, as I was scrambling to fill in the binder reminder entries I had missed while I was absent. Once the take-a-minute video was over, Jaden came up to read his blog, and Ms. Nakada corrected a few mistakes. Next, Jaden had to decide who he wanted to choose to be the next blogger, so he asked if anyone wanted to go. Nobody raised their hand (as usual). Since nobody raised their hand, Jaden wanted to do a large game of rock-paper-scissors with the people who had not done the blog yet.  Agenda: - Take a Minute - Blog/Corrections - Week 5: Song - School Trip /Reader's Workshop Homework : Read 100 pages of a book of your choice by Monday 9/15 Hi, it's Sigi. Shortly after entering Ms. Nakada's classroom and doing our daily "take a minute," Layla read her blog, which was very well written. Ms. Nakada read one of her former students' letters to us, and she  had very good advice that should be taken into consideration. Our class reached ten points, yet again, and we decided on getting pizza for our reward. The song of the week is called "Non Je Ne Regrete Rien" by Edith Piaf, which is about living now, and not getting stuck on your past experiences, so you can enjoy life to the best of your ability. Some words we used to describe the tone of this song were motivational, urgent, and robust.
