Week 8: Quiz

School Trip

HW: Read The Outsiders p. 1-84 by Monday

Hi, It's me Nell. As I walked into class, everybody was already writing down our agenda into their binder reminders, so I quickly sat down and started writing the agenda into my binder reminder. While Miriam was reading her blog, which we later corrected, Ms. Nakada brought out her cookies and brownies that she promised us on Wednesday. Unexpectedly, she picked me. We started on our third Createober drawing, which was a weave. Ms. Nakada then realized that we did not correct Miriam's blog, so we corrected it. The timer rang, which meant that our time for drawing our Createober drawing was over. I was busy with the blog, so I did not draw mine. Next, Daniella shared her drawing which was very spooky. After that, Kellan and Sebastian shared theirs. Ms. Nakada then gave us a little review on what was going to be on the quiz. After that, she gave us the sign to start our quiz. The quiz was pretty easy for me, as I got a 10/10. Then, Ms. Nakada distributed her cookies that she baked herself. She generously let us have one cookie and one brownie, both were delicious. Everybody was asking for seconds and giving Ms. Nakada different ideas on how to figure out who gets extra brownies. Nobody got any of them. Then, we got 15 minutes to either read The Outsiders book or work on our Createober drawings. As we were being loud, Ms. Nakada nudged that if we were not going to be quiet then we would have to start our School Trip essay, that nobody knew we had. We then packed up our stuff, and the bell rang, which marked the end of this period.

Agenda: Take a minute Blog corrections week 11: Lines NaPoWriMo Today, we sat down in English and wrote down the agenda while the Take a minute played. Ruby went up and presented her blog, and then chose me to write the blog. After that, I went up to the desk and started writing. We reviewed the grammar from yesterday, covering three specific comma rules. We then discussed a quote by Emily Dickinson, and talked about the feelings that poetry can invoke. Next, we talked about the question of the week, "How do you feel about poetry?" Once we finished that, we read the lines a couple times, then analyzed the lines, a poem from Howard Nemerov. Next, we were asked to write a poem in the same format as the poem we read. I wrote a poem answering questions I got when ESA went to the UCLA water polo match. Then, class was over, so we packed up and left.

  Agenda: - take a minute - blog/corrections - week 3: question - readers workshop Homework: Finish books this week! Hello, it's me, Hriday! Today we all walked into class, talkative as usual, and settled down into our seats. We all copied the agenda down into our binder reminders (I was a little late to do so), and Ms. Nakada started our daily take-a-minute video. I did not take a minute, as I was scrambling to fill in the binder reminder entries I had missed while I was absent. Once the take-a-minute video was over, Jaden came up to read his blog, and Ms. Nakada corrected a few mistakes. Next, Jaden had to decide who he wanted to choose to be the next blogger, so he asked if anyone wanted to go. Nobody raised their hand (as usual). Since nobody raised their hand, Jaden wanted to do a large game of rock-paper-scissors with the people who had not done the blog yet.  Agenda: - Take a Minute - Blog/Corrections - Week 5: Song - School Trip /Reader's Workshop Homework : Read 100 pages of a book of your choice by Monday 9/15 Hi, it's Sigi. Shortly after entering Ms. Nakada's classroom and doing our daily "take a minute," Layla read her blog, which was very well written. Ms. Nakada read one of her former students' letters to us, and she  had very good advice that should be taken into consideration. Our class reached ten points, yet again, and we decided on getting pizza for our reward. The song of the week is called "Non Je Ne Regrete Rien" by Edith Piaf, which is about living now, and not getting stuck on your past experiences, so you can enjoy life to the best of your ability. Some words we used to describe the tone of this song were motivational, urgent, and robust.
