Week 8: Question & Song

School Trip ACE

HW: Read The Outsiders P. 1-84 by Monday.


BLOG:

Good morning! As students entered the classroom, everyone took their seats. Once the bell rang, we all took out our binder reminders, writing down the agenda while listening to our daily take a minute. Then, we read Madison's blog, and corrected her errors. Next, Madison chose me to be the next blogger, and I walked up to the blogging desk as Miss Nakada told us our question of the week. This week's question was, "How can daily life spark creativity?" My answer was, "Daily life can spark creativity from Inspiration throughout the day, and observing the little things that happen as you go through your day." Some students then shared their answers, talking about inspiration, nature, and even sometimes the people around us. Next, Miss Nakada showed us her old Creatober drawings, with unique different themes. Then, we went over our song of the week. This week's song is called "Immigrants (We get the job done)" by K'naan featuring Snow Tha Product, Residente, & Riz MC. This song is about "Immigrants" trying to enter America, whilst talking about doing much more jobs and "Keeping America running," while not getting enough credit for it. Lastly, we finally finished up School Trip, finishing the discussion on chapter nine. We talked about the students arriving back in New York, Andy trying to be a better kid, and Jordan bringing back "Souvenirs" to his friends, and parents. We then discuss Jordan's big decision of him staying at RAD, and his parents not approving of his art school career path. After wrapping up that discussion, the bell rang, ending another period of English class.

Agenda: Take a minute Blog corrections week 11: Lines NaPoWriMo Today, we sat down in English and wrote down the agenda while the Take a minute played. Ruby went up and presented her blog, and then chose me to write the blog. After that, I went up to the desk and started writing. We reviewed the grammar from yesterday, covering three specific comma rules. We then discussed a quote by Emily Dickinson, and talked about the feelings that poetry can invoke. Next, we talked about the question of the week, "How do you feel about poetry?" Once we finished that, we read the lines a couple times, then analyzed the lines, a poem from Howard Nemerov. Next, we were asked to write a poem in the same format as the poem we read. I wrote a poem answering questions I got when ESA went to the UCLA water polo match. Then, class was over, so we packed up and left.

  Agenda: - take a minute - blog/corrections - week 3: question - readers workshop Homework: Finish books this week! Hello, it's me, Hriday! Today we all walked into class, talkative as usual, and settled down into our seats. We all copied the agenda down into our binder reminders (I was a little late to do so), and Ms. Nakada started our daily take-a-minute video. I did not take a minute, as I was scrambling to fill in the binder reminder entries I had missed while I was absent. Once the take-a-minute video was over, Jaden came up to read his blog, and Ms. Nakada corrected a few mistakes. Next, Jaden had to decide who he wanted to choose to be the next blogger, so he asked if anyone wanted to go. Nobody raised their hand (as usual). Since nobody raised their hand, Jaden wanted to do a large game of rock-paper-scissors with the people who had not done the blog yet.  Agenda: - Take a Minute - Blog/Corrections - Week 5: Song - School Trip /Reader's Workshop Homework : Read 100 pages of a book of your choice by Monday 9/15 Hi, it's Sigi. Shortly after entering Ms. Nakada's classroom and doing our daily "take a minute," Layla read her blog, which was very well written. Ms. Nakada read one of her former students' letters to us, and she  had very good advice that should be taken into consideration. Our class reached ten points, yet again, and we decided on getting pizza for our reward. The song of the week is called "Non Je Ne Regrete Rien" by Edith Piaf, which is about living now, and not getting stuck on your past experiences, so you can enjoy life to the best of your ability. Some words we used to describe the tone of this song were motivational, urgent, and robust.
