HW: Read 100 pages of a book of your choice by Monday 9/15


    Hey guys, it's me, Layla. I would like to start off by saying thank you to Hartley for picking me to be the next blogger, and to Tesa for cheering me on. We started off our day by walking into the classroom, sitting down, and writing down the agenda. Next, we silently watched our take a minute video. Then, Hartley read her blog aloud and picked me as the next blogger (a great choice). No corrections were needed, so good job Hartley! After that, we wrote down our Week #5: Question, "How can we better balance hard work and taking care of yourself?" We then shared some of our answers to the question. Afterwards, we talked more about SCHOOL TRIP and took some notes on the book. During our discussion, Molly shared some funny and embarrassing stories about her dad... he has an interesting fashion sense. Finally, we worked a little more on our independent reading plan and before we knew it, class was over! Thanks for reading my blog!

Agenda: Take a minute Blog corrections week 11: Lines NaPoWriMo Today, we sat down in English and wrote down the agenda while the Take a minute played. Ruby went up and presented her blog, and then chose me to write the blog. After that, I went up to the desk and started writing. We reviewed the grammar from yesterday, covering three specific comma rules. We then discussed a quote by Emily Dickinson, and talked about the feelings that poetry can invoke. Next, we were asked to write a poem in the same format as the poem we read. I wrote a poem answering questions I got when ESA went to the UCLA water polo match.   Agenda: - take a minute - blog/corrections - week 3: question - readers workshop Homework: Finish books this week! Hello, it's me, Hriday! Today we all walked into class, talkative as usual, and settled down into our seats. We all copied the agenda down into our binder reminders (I was a little late to do so), and Ms. Nakada started our daily take-a-minute video. I did not take a minute, as I was scrambling to fill in the binder reminder entries I had missed while I was absent. Once the take-a-minute video was over, Jaden came up to read his blog, and Ms. Nakada corrected a few mistakes. Next, Jaden had to decide who he wanted to choose to be the next blogger, so he asked if anyone wanted to go. Nobody raised their hand (as usual). Since nobody raised their hand, Jaden wanted to do a large game of rock-paper-scissors with the people who had not done the blog yet.  Agenda: - Take a Minute - Blog/Corrections - Week 5: Song - School Trip /Reader's Workshop Homework : Read 100 pages of a book of your choice by Monday 9/15 Hi, it's Sigi. Shortly after entering Ms. Nakada's classroom and doing our daily "take a minute," Layla read her blog, which was very well written. Ms. Nakada read one of her former students' letters to us, and she  had very good advice that should be taken into consideration. Our class reached ten points, yet again, and we decided on getting pizza for our reward. The song of the week is called "Non Je Ne Regrete Rien" by Edith Piaf, which is about living now, and not getting stuck on your past experiences, so you can enjoy life to the best of your ability. Some words we used to describe the tone of this song were motivational, urgent, and robust.
