NaNo Submissions
HW: Novel submissions due Friday!
Today, everyone entered the class, only a little talkative. Ms. Nakada told us to quiet down so we could watch the take a minute video. After that, Miriam came up to read her blog, and chose me to be the next blogger since I hadn't gone yet. As a class, we corrected her blog with the proofreading marks we learned yesterday. Today's question was actually three questions: "Who is telling the stories? Who are they about? Who is missing?" We then had a short discussion about the lack of representation of certain people, cultures, themes, etc. in books. Reader's workshop was next, where we revisited our reading logs. Ms. Nakada then gave us some time for silent reading. We also had the opportunity to go to the library to get a book if we didn't have one. When silent reading time was over, Ms. Nakada gave us time to work on our NaNo Submissions. We continued doing independent work until Ms. Nakada dismissed us after the bell rang. That was our day.
