HW Read towards 100 pages for the week


On a Thursday morning, in our English class, everyone walked in early, and ready, except the troublemakers, Sebastian, Ethan, Sam. The bell rang, and class started. Everyone started writing the agenda down, while listening to the meditation video. Afterwards, we pulled out our notebooks and started listening to Sebastian read his blog. He called on Alex to do the blog next. He asked me if I wanted to do it with him. Obviously, I said yes to those who don't know. Afterwards, Alex and I sat down at the blogging desk. Then, Ms. Nakada, called us up to pay for pizza if we wanted any. Alex, Molly, Sigi, Talia, and Liam payed for pizza, and then they sat down in their seats. Afterwards, Ms. Nakada, our wise English teacher, put on a video of Mary Oliver reading the lines, "The Summer Day" by Mary Oliver. In that time, we glued in the lines into our notebooks. Then, we started going over the lines altogether. After that, we opened a new page in our notebooks, and wrote how to write summaries. We wrote a one sentence summary about the book, The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton. After a couple fellow classmates shared their summaries, we started reading our book for the rest of the period. Thank you for listening to this wondrous blog, and a big thank you to our fellow classmate, Sebi Rico, for picking us.

Agenda: Take a minute Blog corrections week 11: Lines NaPoWriMo Today, we sat down in English and wrote down the agenda while the Take a minute played. Ruby went up and presented her blog, and then chose me to write the blog. After that, I went up to the desk and started writing. We reviewed the grammar from yesterday, covering three specific comma rules. We then discussed a quote by Emily Dickinson, and talked about the feelings that poetry can invoke. Next, we talked about the question of the week, "How do you feel about poetry?" Once we finished that, we read the lines a couple times, then analyzed the lines, a poem from Howard Nemerov. Next, we were asked to write a poem in the same format as the poem we read. I wrote a poem answering questions I got when ESA went to the UCLA water polo match. Then, class was over, so we packed up and left.

Rahm and Sam's [Hriday] Third Blog

  Agenda: - take a minute - blog/corrections - week 3: question - readers workshop Homework: Finish books this week! Hello, it's me, Hriday! Today we all walked into class, talkative as usual, and settled down into our seats. We all copied the agenda down into our binder reminders (I was a little late to do so), and Ms. Nakada started our daily take-a-minute video. I did not take a minute, as I was scrambling to fill in the binder reminder entries I had missed while I was absent. Once the take-a-minute video was over, Jaden came up to read his blog, and Ms. Nakada corrected a few mistakes. Next, Jaden had to decide who he wanted to choose to be the next blogger, so he asked if anyone wanted to go. Nobody raised their hand (as usual). Since nobody raised their hand, Jaden wanted to do a large game of rock-paper-scissors with the people who had not done the blog yet.  Agenda: - Take a Minute - Blog/Corrections - Week 5: Song - School Trip /Reader's Workshop Homework : Read 100 pages of a book of your choice by Monday 9/15 Hi, it's Sigi. Shortly after entering Ms. Nakada's classroom and doing our daily "take a minute," Layla read her blog, which was very well written. Ms. Nakada read one of her former students' letters to us, and she  had very good advice that should be taken into consideration. Our class reached ten points, yet again, and we decided on getting pizza for our reward. The song of the week is called "Non Je Ne Regrete Rien" by Edith Piaf, which is about living now, and not getting stuck on your past experiences, so you can enjoy life to the best of your ability. Some words we used to describe the tone of this song were motivational, urgent, and robust.
