week 18: song
original oratory prep
hw - original oratories due 5/21
Less than two weeks remain.
Twelve and a half days.
It's everyday when we experience something for the last time.
On May 21st, we walk into class.
Some are tired, some are talking.
Metal legs scrape the floor.
Alex and Sam read their blog...
Alphaville's "Forever Young" fills the air.
Melancholy hangs decidedly with it.
Because we don't want to live forever.
But this year is almost done.
And we couldn't be more conflicted that it's coming to an end.
Ms. Nakada reads her original oratory.
And weirdly enough, we are quiet.
We stand still and listen.
Listen to her,
her thoughts,
her feelings,
And we appreciate it.
More than we show.
And as another class comes to an end,
The printer screeches as it prints out oratories.
One down.
Classes dribbling to an eventual
stop.
